As part of its regular eight-year audit cycle, the Quality Council will audit the University of Toronto’s compliance with the University of Toronto Quality Assurance Process (UTQAP) in 2026–27 – U of T’s second audit since the UTQAP was implemented in 2011–12. All publicly assisted universities in Ontario associated with the Quality Council have committed to participating in this audit process. 

The UTQAP governs the University’s quality assurance activities, which include the approval of new academic programs, cyclical reviews of existing undergraduate and graduate programs, the assessment of major and minor modifications to existing programs, and closures of existing degrees and programs. These processes are designed to ensure that academic programs offered by the University meet the highest standards of quality and align with the Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) for the Province of Ontario.   

The audit examines whether the University has acted in compliance with its quality assurance policies and contributes to a culture of continuous improvement in academic programming. The auditors’ site visit is scheduled for early 2027, and this is your opportunity to share feedback about your experiences with the University’s quality assurance processes. Your input helps ensure that the voices of faculty, staff, and students are reflected in the audit process and informs how the University continues to strengthen and improve its approach to quality assurance. We welcome your questions and comments below.
